The Monarch's New Raiment

Yay, verily, This time around Theatre 40's KIDS ACTING OUT! program is going with an Elizabethan Theatre theme. Melanie MacQueen, the Program Director has written two plays - one for the older kids (grades 5 - 8) and one for the younger kids (grades 3-4). The older kids are performing a Elizabethan style version of "The Emperor's New Clothes" called "The Monarch's New Raiment". The younger kids are doing a play version of an original story she wrote about warring fairy tribes called "An Old, Old, Tale". Sword fights, Elizabethan English phrases, words and courtly behavior of ye olde English variety are being studied by the students involved in the production.

Mentors from Theatre 40, volunteering their time, include Lola Fisher, Tom Gregory and Dick Stampolis. The program continues to be offered as a community service by Theatre 40 for no cost to the participants.

Involved are over 30 children, all from BH area schools. Beverly Vista, Horace Mann and Hawthorne all have students participating. Horace Mann is very kindly hosting KIDS ACTING OUT! once again for workshops and rehearsals. The actual performance will be at Theatre 40 on April 5 at 7 PM. Free to all comers but seating is limited.
