A Jewess has returned from a concentration camp to collect her enormous inheritance. Her husband and daughter believe her to be dead, and are determined to acquire her huge fortune. Not recognizing her as their wife and mother, they ask her to embark on a bizarre conspiracy — by accepting, she becomes a woman impersonating herself. Based on novel of the same name by Hubert Montelhet, the play underscores the Chinese maxim "On the tear-stained cheek, the wasp plants her sting." |
